With only 2 hits in last night's game against the Angels, the Minnesota Twins (50-43) didn't have much of a chance. Dropping the game 7-0, they need to figure out a way to wake up their bats. Gibson wasn't particularly stellar either giving up 6 ER in 5 innings. However, it doesn't help when Matt Shoemaker strikes out everyone with the exception of Kurt Suzuki. Next game tonight versus the Angels (53-40) at 9:00 with a struggling Pelfrey (5-6, 4.00 ERA / 0-4, 7.59 ERA in last 6 starts) taking the mound versus C. J. Wilson (7-7, 3.59 ERA). The Twins need to figure something out, and fast, if they want to avoid dropping to 3rd place in the division.
The Twins (50-42) look to bounce back from the horrendous 14-1 pounding recieved from Oakland on Sunday with a series against the Angels (52-40) starting tonight at 9:00pm CST. Kyle Gibson is on the hill and what better pitcher to have going when you need a win? Lately Gibby has been the Twins' ace winning his last 4 starts with something like a 1.23 ERA. It goes without saying, but I am going to say it anyway, that the Twins need to sweep the Angels in order to keep up with the Royals (55-36) who are sitting in 1st with a 5.5 game lead.
