Span, Revere - Gone

Former Twin Ben Revere
The Minnesota Twins are making some waves to say the least.  After just recently dealing starting center fielder Denard Span to the Nationals, the Twins decide to trade their only existing center fielder away to the Phillies.  Ben Revere will now be donning the Philadelphia pinstripes as their newest field general, and in return, the Twins get the be-spectacled, mohawk wearing, 6' 2" right hander Vance Worley plus Phillies top pitching prospect, righty, Trevor May (AA - 10-13, 4.87) as well as minor league RHP Ryan Pressly (A, AA - 7-5, 5.38).

It's easy to see what Twins GM Terry Ryan is focusing on this offseason and that's PITCHING!  Of course Denard Span was traded earlier this week for a 6' 9" flame throwing minor league prospect called Alex Meyer, Nationals top pitching prospect, who strikes guys out at a 10.5 per 9 clip.

Amid speculation that the Twins are scrapping the 2013 season by getting pitching "prospects", Terry Ryan said, "I don't think we are taking steps back.  We are trying to take steps forward. I would understand if someone did equate it into taking a step back, [but] we aren't going to take a step forward until we get pitching."

New Twin Vance Worley
Ryan says there's plenty of money left in the piggy bank for free agents, but is that something they will be looking to spend on more pitching?  Let's not forget the other gaping hole in center where Denard Span and sometimes Ben Revere once stood.  Guys like  Darin Mastroianni, Aaron Hicks and Joe Benson are the top choices as of right now to fill that void.
